Pass It Along Scholar Athlete Program Sports Equipment Drive
February 14, 2022
As part of the 2022 Pass-it-Along Scholar-Athlete group, Hannah Doyle will be collecting new/gently used sports equipment and outdoor games. Collections may be brought to the big red box outside of the main office. All donations will benefit Norwescap, a local non-profit organization. Donations may include basketballs, soccer balls, baseballs, cleats, athletic sneakers, skateboards, bikes, frisbees, etc. All items are welcome and appreciated.
Hannah Doyle has been named High Point’s Scholar Athlete for 2022. For additional insight, The Monument has interviewed Hannah, and her responses are below.
What inspired you to begin this donation drive?
– I started this donation drive because I am a member of the 2022 Pass-it-Along Scholar Athletes. During January and February, I met with the Scholar Athletes from neighboring schools, and we collectively decided to collect sports equipment, games, and books. Because of my heavy involvement with High Point athletics, I thought it was the most feasible option.
How do you feel about giving back to your community?
– I feel such gratification giving back to the community. I have been a part of so many community organizations, whether that be sports teams or volunteer projects; giving back is my way of showing my appreciation for those who helped shape me.
What is your favorite sport you have been involved in at High Point?
– My favorite sport here at High Point has been softball. During my freshman and junior year, we won the Division Title. Although winning feels amazing, it is the family-like bond shared among my teammates and I that sets this aspect and the sport apart. I am proud of winning the division, receiving first team honors, and being on the All-Academic team; but the pasta parties, car rides, and all-day tournaments with my team is something I will cherish forever.
What is/are your biggest accomplishment/s from playing a sport?
– My biggest accomplishment from playing a sport has been breaking the High Point Softball batting average record. This is such an important feat for me because I lost my sophomore season to COVID-19; coming back after a year off was an struggle, but my hard work paid off. I have always looked up to some of High Point’s greatest players, including Ally Frei and Chelsea Eckert. Being among a group of record holders like these girls is remarkable.
Any additional information you would like to add?
– I am beyond honored to be named High Point’s 2022 Pass-it-Along Scholar Athlete. I am taking my duties associated with this position seriously, and I am hoping I can involve my school community as much as possible to come up with tons of donations to benefit Norwescap. I am forever grateful that I was able to be a part of four varsity sports at High Point; the lessons learned and friendships made through softball, basketball, volleyball, and tennis will be carried throughout the rest of my life.
