A Selfish Departure
Sad crying caucasian little girl
December 3, 2021
Summited by Eliana Savopoulos
Twisted misery lingered
After her departure
How could you?
An ominous feeling crawled over me,
Unhappy here,
She left us behind-
Maybe it was because of us…
Now the space was empty;
Dark and grim,
Shadows stretched long,
Crawling up the sun-faded wallpaper,
But I still imagined her coming home,
I imagined her in the kitchen,
Cooking for us every morning;
Waffles, scrambled eggs, and freshly squeezed orange juice
Yet-
It was still just a figment of my imagination.
